My name is Catherine aka Comrade Von Pussycat, this blog is a cheeky homage to all of the Bond girls I grew up watching on screen and aspiring to be like. I am a California girl who fell in love, and married a Macedonian boy. We have a cat named Samson who we rescued from the snowy winter streets and who now repays me by humping my leg incessantly...such a creep! Oh, and I also happen to love the 1940's and 1950's, so stay tuned if you love vintage too!

The Beautiful and the Damned
It is truly dumbfounding how beauty can both a blessing and a curse. Beauty has no loyalty and no compassion. Beauty is fleeting, and for those who have possessed a great deal of beauty in their lifetime, as she starts to fade and abandon you for another, youth, you feel betrayed and forgotten. There is nothing more grotesque than a person grasping for something they've lost, and replacing it with some artificial form of what they had formerly. That is the truly tragic part. Sometimes I feel that it would have been better to not have known her at all.

Sometimes You Just Get Lucky!
Last Summer, while searching Etsy for 1940's suits, I spotted this 1940's velvet skirt suit and fell in love:
I decided that I would put it on my wishlist and save up to buy it at a later date, possibly with my birthday money. Needless to say, about a month before my birthday, it sold. I deeply regretted not being able to afford it sooner, but that is life. Then, about a month later, I came across the exact same suit on Ebay, for a mere $35! Life is funny sometimes! I immediately bought it and couldn't believe my luck. How often do you come across the same piece of vintage twice within a few months? Well, on one of my favorite blogs ever I just noticed that it was probably the beautiful Louise from Pandora that had purchased the other suit! Take a look at how gorgeous she looks in this 1940's beauty :)
I feel very lucky that I was able to add such a beautiful piece of 1940's history to my ever expanding collection of vintage!
