I've caught coat madness!

Isn't this such a beautiful vintage advertisement? I have been waiting to get my mitts on the perfect vintage princess coat in my size (no easy feat!), but in the meantime I have snagged a few other coats to satiate my
Winter wardrobe cravings...the first is a beautiful black wool boucle swing coat with a huge cream and silver fox fur collar from the 1950's, and the other  a is jet black astrakhan coat from the 1930's...I would never buy fur new, but rehoming a vintage fur is another matter. I will post pictures soon, I promise! Is anyone else building up their vintage Winter wardrobe?

A Lady Wears L'Aiglon...

It's no secret that I have been wishing for a change in season...I've been reading Anton Chekhov's "The Darling and Other Stories", longing for a fairytale or folktale existence in the country somewhere, in the middle of an enchanted forest with the scent of fresh pine trees mingling with the crisp mountain air. Ever the romantic, I embarked on a quest for fairytale worthy garments that will allow my fantasies to somehow be realized. I came across this beautiful mustard colored wool L'Aiglon dress with the most adorable white crochet trim collar and oversize buttons, and I just knew it was meant for me.The price was right, too. I don't have a ton of mustard colored things in my wardrobe, but I am looking forward to creating different looks with this dress...

Forgive me for neglecting this blog, my dear readers! Between working in San Francisco, the commute, and living without electricity (my family is going through a severe financial crisis at the moment, please pray for us!), I just haven't had the opportunity to gather the time or inspiration for a blog post. I can't deny that my spirit is a little crushed these days, my family is living through difficult times, and since moving back just three months ago, a lot of great things have happened for me personally, but to see my family suffer really takes its toll. I have been thinking of happier times, and I've been looking forward to a change of season...figuratively and literally.
