A Rose Among The Thorns

“I adore simple pleasures. They are the last refuge of the complex.”
- Oscar Wilde

My mood has been a lot darker lately - although I am forced to disguise this by being uncharacteristically sanguine when I am not alone. I don't agree that one should find a remedy for melancholia, for it is in this state that inspiration is the greatest, and I have accepted the fact that my personality in particular seems to be prone to long bouts of it. All great romantics are prone to it. One of life's greatest pleasures is to experience true melancholia. Instead of finding a cure, as many would, I instead choose to indulge and deepen my melancholic mood...

Witty dialogue
"Borgias" - Two words: Cesare Borgia. Need more? Incest, pedophilia, murder, witty dialogue and gratuitous sex scenes? What's not to love? Oh, and Jeremy Irons is brilliant, naturally. That voice could make me do so many things...

Furs
Ever watched "Butterfield 8"? Enough said...but in case you haven't, here is a picture just to prove the glamorous effect of a fur coat. When you are wearing a fur coat, it doesn't matter what is underneath!

Franz Von Stuck
Definitely one of my absolute favorite artists of all time. Only he could make something evil look so delicious.

Wine stained lips
I adore "Mrs. Mia Wallace" by Urban Decay - their entire Pulp Fiction themed collection is brilliant and befitting of a modern day flapper.
Playlist:
"Venus in Furs" - The Velvet Underground

Dark chocolate
Studded with chili dusted mango, dotted with toasted hazelnuts, or just plain creamy chocolate truffle!

Wine
Whether the color of dark blackberry velvet, clear claret, or dried blood red - as long as it is some shade of red it is worthy to touch these lips.

Love

“It is only by enlarging the scope of one’s tastes and one’s fantasies, by sacrificing everything to pleasure, that the unfortunate individual called Man, thrown despite himself into this sad world, can succeed in gathering a few roses among life’s thorns”
- Marquis de Sade

“So sweet and delicious do I become,
when I am in bed with a man
who, I sense, loves and enjoys me,
that the pleasure I bring excels all delight,
so the knot of love, however tight
it seemed before, is tied tighter still.”
Veronica Franco, Poems and Selected Letters
